which then evolves into a series of exercises to develop a unique solution for our clients. We use hand
sketches, physical models, and 3D software to develop a vision that can be seen before it is built. We truly
dedicate ourselves to customer service and satisfaction throughout the entire process.
people: Kirsten A. Runschke is President and Founder of architektura PLC, an architectural firm based in
Grand Haven, Michigan.
Kirsten grew up observing the talent and passion of her father, a highly skilled architect, and that drove her
lifelong aspiration to lead her own architecture practice. Kirsten started her journey by earning her Masters
degree in Architecture at the University of Illinois in Chicago and then spent the following 10+ years at an
architecture firm working alongside - and learning from - her father.
In 2013, Kirsten founded architektura PLC, where she now spends her days solving design challenges from
residential remodels to commercial buildouts, and lends her creative talents and thoughtful insight to
help clients realize their vision and ensure projects are successful from inception through construction.
Kirsten is a registered architect in the State of Michigan, member of AIA, NCARB Certified, and a LEED
Accredited Professional, and has nearly 20 years of professional experience working in the industry with a
variety of contractors, consultants, and community leaders.
Aside from running her architecture practice, Kirsten is also a member of the Rotary Club of Grand Haven,
and sits on the Board as its Chair of the Foundation and International Service committee and Youth

award for her dedication and service to the community. Further, Kirsten is also a member of the Planning
Commission for the City of Grand Haven.
She is joined by her father, Gernot A. Runschke, who holds his architecture degree from HTL Detmold,
Germany. With over 45 years of experience, he continues to excel in the field of architecture in his new role as
an independent consultant to many long standing clients. Gernot was Rotary District Governor 2016-2017
